Whoa! Fabulous! Fun! Delicious! Refreshing! So YUM! Such a fantastic drink! Perfect for summer parties, relaxing in the shade or pool side. Italian Cream Sodas are that fancy looking drink that is becoming popular at bakeries, cafes and coffee shops. Who would have thought it was so easy to make! This is also a fun project for kids to help with. The colors, flavors and just pure yum will have them helping in no time. They will be excited to create their own sweet drink.

Ingredients

  • homemade syrup; blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, any flavor
  • club soda
  • half and half
  • ice

Directions

Fill a glass with ice. Add syrup to about 1/4 of the glass. Add club soda almost to the top leaving enough space for a bit of cream. Add a bit of cream, to taste. It is so cool to watch the colors in the glass. Take a sec to enjoy the beauty before stirring. Stir it together. Taste test time. Adjust syrup and cream as needed for your taste. Enjoy!

Syrup Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup blueberries, raspberries or 2 cups strawberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

Syrup Directions

Place sugar and water in heavy bottom saucepan. Boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add the fruit. Boil approximately 10 minutes while stirring. Reduce heat and simmer approximately 10 more minutes stirring frequently. Strain the fruit chunks out and keep the juice. Cool completely. Keep in air tight container in fridge. It should stay fresh for a few days in fridge.

Be creative! Try other flavors as well. I am thinking pineapple, coconut cream, mango cream, peach and blackberry for just a few more ideas. Mix it up. You can use store bought syrup as well. Add whipped cream on top for an extra flair for the kiddos. I have seen boba added to it as well. Your only limit is your imagination. Enjoy!
