The best pizza dough recipe I have found. I have tried a few and this one is delicious, easy, quick and has not failed me yet. It has a light, chewy yet crisp texture which is really nice. The original recipe is for cheese bread, however, I have used it for pizza many times. The only side note/tip I would add to this recipe is either place it in a pan with edges or put aluminum foil in the bottom of your oven because some of the butter always seems to drip off. Other than that, make up this dough, add cheeses for cheese bread or whatever toppings you want for a delicious pizza. Sometimes I make the dough and divide it into two smaller pizzas if I want to make different toppings. This recipe makes enough dough for about one large size pizza. I hope you try it for your next pizza night. I think you will love it. 🙂

Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dry active yeast
  • 3/4 -1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil (optional, I add this because I love basil.)
  • sauce, cheese and toppings of choice
Directions
  1. In a medium bowl whisk together flour, garlic salt, sugar and yeast. Keep the yeast away from the salt when adding and slowly mix it in.
  2. Slowly add warm water to the bowl. You may not need to add the full 1 cup of water, so add a little at a time.
  3. Mix together until dough is formed.
  4. Knead using your hangs for about a minute to form a ball.
  5. Use 1 tbsp olive oil and rub all over a clean bowl. Add dough to bowl. Cover and let sit in warm area for 1 hour or until dough has doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 425F.
  7. Roll out dough on pizza stone or pan. This dough is so gentle it can be pushed out to size using your hands, no rolling pin needed.
  8. Add butter to a microwavable bowl and melt in 15 second intervals until melted.
  9. Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning to butter.
  10. Coat dough with butter mixture using a brush.
  11. Next add toppings.
  12. Bake approximately 15 -17 minutes or until desired brownness.
  13. Cut and serve immediately.
  14. Enjoy!
